Wood-epoxi boat plans for the amateur builder

Right Whaler-mixed lapstrake-stitch-and-glue 19ft sailboat rigged with a custom balanced lug yawl rig

Madeira Mar is a boatbuilding school founded in 2018, in Brazil. Building boats in Brazil is no easy task. Amateur boatbuilders struggle with the soaring prices of marine hardware and lack of proper woods and quality plywood. Because of this, we have developed plans to make it easier to build great boats with easy to find materials. Our sailboats, even our cabin cruisers, are rigged with traditional gaff or lug sails, round section spars (of wood or metal, even steel), and polytarp sails. Through thoghtful research and design, we have designed boats that perform well, are easy to build, and offer great accomodation for their sizes. Plus, they are affordable and easy to operate and maintain.

Plywood-epoxy stitch-and-glue boatbuilding is perfect for enthusiasts. Plywood-epoxy boatbuilding doesn’t require advanced carpentry or expensive tools, nor building cradles or molds. Boats built this way are not only affordable and quick to build, but strong, durable, easy to maintain, perform well and best of all, you can choose exactly the boat you dream of!
